Regional and State Competitions
Regional and State Competitions
Each year, Ohio Invention League hosts Ohio Invention Convention competitions, allowing our student inventors to showcase their inventions at the regional and state levels.
Local Competitions
After learning and applying the invention process to solve a real-world problem, OIL’s student inventors may participate in local competitions through their school, district, or out-of-school organization.
Regional Competitions
Each Spring, student inventors may compete in virtual regional competitions. Student inventors will be assigned to a virtual regional competition based on their hometown and will compete with other students assigned to their region. Regional competitions may vary annually, depending on the amount of students participating in each geographic area of the state. During the virtual regional preliminary competitions, student inventors are judged based on a pitch video introducing their invention.
State Competition
Select students are then chosen to advance to the annual Ohio Invention Convention State Finals, which takes place in the Summer. During the State Competition, student inventors are judged based on their invention, logbook, and a pitch presentation. Following the judging period, OIL celebrates student inventors in an Award Ceremony.
National Competition
During the State Competition, select student inventors will be invited to compete at the following year’s Invention Convention U.S. Nationals at The Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan. These students will serve as the Ohio Delegation to Invention Convention U.S. Nationals!
