Welcome to the Invention League’s Invention Convention Program! Whether you are coordinating the program on behalf of your district, a private school or student organization we value your involvement and are here to support your efforts!

  • The Invention Convention program is provided at no cost to districts, schools and students. Invention League provides the materials and videos shown on this site as well as additional resources and ongoing support, enabling schools, districts and other student organizations to implement their own local Invention Convention Program.

    The Invention Convention aligns with state learning standards, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE) and the STEMIE Coalition.

    The Invention League also provides Inventor Experiences, professional development, access to the state competition and a pathway to the National Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE).

    District/Student Organization rolls out program and hosts local competition, identifying top inventors

    Invention League opens registration for state competition, inviting participation of select top inventors from each district/student organization across the state

    The state level Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Competition is held, with top inventors identified for possible advancement to the National Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Expo (NICEE)

    Participating districts/student organizations will be awarded state competition space to a minimum of their top three prototypes (teams of two only count as only one space).  Additional space will be awarded based on overall district participation.

    You may roll out your local program and implement your competition anytime before the state competition online registration deadline:

    2018 Online Registration Deadline – April 30, 2019

    (The registration website will be available beginning 4 weeks before the registration deadline.)

  • SIGN UP TO PARTICIPATE

    Thanks to our generous superhero sponsors and donors we can offer your district or student organization the Invention Convention Program at no cost. This STEAM aligned K-12 program is easy to implement and focuses on teaching problem seeking, critical thinking, creative problem solving and entrepreneurship (for grades 4-12).

    • The program is designed to be flexible, fitting around your school year schedule and allowing you to meet the key academic standards.
    • We provide the tools and materials you need as well as ongoing support on the local and state level.
    • We will actively work with local and national media to celebrate your students and schools accomplishments.
    • We provide ongoing support through your district appointed Squadron Leader.
    • Each participating district (or organization) will be invited to send a limited number of their top inventors to both the State and National Invention and Entrepreneurship competitions.
    • Inventors will be eligible for continuing education scholarships and prizes.  Your students could even be featured in the local news or hosted on a national talk show!

    A Squadron Leader of Excellence Award winner is also selected annually from each state, recognizing an accomplished educator supporting the student inventors in their district or community.

  • Invention League is excited to announce that we have been working the STEMIE Coalition and STEMIE affiliates throughout the United States on the development of a National K-12 Inventing Curriculum, including lessons, supporting tools and complete with hundreds of time-tested activities. The content is complete and the curriculum is now undergoing formatting, branding and upload to the curriculum website.  We are on pace to add 20 new lessons each week.     Ohio Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Competition – Sunday, July 29, 2018 at The Ohio State Fair.  Additional details:

    • No online video requirements for states (will be required for nationals)
    • Districts/student organizations report competition date and actual or estimated number of participants by March 1, 2018 to info@inventionleague.org
    • Online registration deadline will be April 30, 2018
    • Top 3 inventions in each registered district or student organization automatically awarded slots to states

    Additional slots will be available and will be awarded by April 1, 2018 based on a district or student organization’s participation numbers compared to the total state participation numbers

    The Student Journal is a required element for competition for inventors grades K-8.  Fun, informative videos have been creating supporting each step of the journal.

  • Sunday, July 28, 2019 at The Ohio State Fair.

    Additional details:

    • No online video requirements for states (video will be required for nationals).
    • Districts/student organizations report competition date and actual or estimated number of participants, along with other key metrics by March 1, 2019 to info@inventionleague.org.
    • All registered districts/student organizations will  automatically be  awarded 3 slots to states.
    • Additional slots will be available and will be awarded by March 8, 2019 based on a district/student organization’s participation numbers compared to the total state participation numbers.
    • Online registration deadline will be April 30, 2019
      Students will be selected from the winners of the July 28, 2019 Ohio Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Competition for the opportunity to advance to the 2019 National Invention Convention & Entrepreneurship Expo
